Another flock improvement

Fri, 16 Sep 2005 apple flock comments
I purchased a new ibook last time I was in Palo Alto, which has the new trackpad feature:
Just drag two fingers over the trackpad to scroll vertically and horizontally or pan around any active window. Change this feature to suit your needs: Customize your trackpad settings or turn off scrolling completely via System Preferences.
Thats great, except in firefox when scrolling through a page, if you don't keep perfectly vertical you start scrolling through history.  Apple doesn't seem to allow application specific customization of the two finger scroll and horizontal scrolling is useful in other applications.  Luckily flock ignores horizontal scrolling allowing me to read longer articles without cursing every few moments.

I also got asked by a few people to explain flock; instead I delegate to wired.

Unfortunately that is probably a bug in Flock, because of the older Firefox 1.5 alpha code base. Can you explain this issue in more detail please (if you would email the details and steps that would be great). Then we can consider the usability, and consider really fixing it.

    Set mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action = 0. and you'll probably also want mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.numlines = 1
