Fundable

Sun, 15 May 2005 comments

Thanks to Delicious Popular I learned about Fundable. It is a site that allows users to get together and work towards a common goal.

Users contribute via paypal, and if the goal isn’t reached, the money is returned.

This could be awesome for open source and community projects. I started a fundable group for Half/Ebay API access for book burro.

Also, two links have caused Book Burro to be the most accessed portion of my site (taking the honor from my 20 minute hack for amazon mp3 downloads): hackaday, and a dutch news site. I wonder what Emerce is.

I thought access to the API was free?

Hmm... Perhaps you are correct. I am re-emailing the person at ebay/half who informed me about the fee showing them this

Ok, finally figured it out! They don't have an API for half! They only have a datastream, which means downloading 600+MB every day to my server, then having book burro point at that data. So, I am not sure what to do. Datastreams are old, too much bandwidth, too much processing, . . . But screenscraping sucks. I have to think that the screenscraping is still less bandwidth than doing 600MB per day! Jesse
