HP update

Tue, 12 Apr 2005 comments

Jeff Utigard from HP has contacted me regarding my previous issues with HP support.

He was very honest and sincere about the lapse in quality and wants to correct things in a manner that makes us all happy.

I had talked to Ann Finnie about how she helped Blake Ross with his HP problem. It was funny since she said she didn’t know that he was behind Firefox!

After talking with Ann and Jeff it seems like it isn’t a case of HP giving “star/ubergeek” treatment to Blake.

guess you were lucky. I have a 3 month old compaq wireless. I was advised Mr.Utigard was to call me as I cannot get proper support. From the first day. Wireless will not fuction. Will not download any updates,HP, Windows, etc. Cannot open Internet Explorer. Email functions about 25% of the time. Most time it just sits in the out box. I sent him several emails. Mr. Medcalf also was to call never heard from him either. I have at least 15 emails from support advising someone will call. No calls. I called phone support Sunday. Twice I was put on hold for an hour. nobody came back. Case manager Ms. Neilson advises she cannot help. Legal Dept. claims they hasv requested Mr. Metcalf and Mr. utigard to call me. I am stuck with a computer that does not work and a bunch of empty promises. If you need backup to this I have copies of all the mail. Plus the names.

You know, HP has been driving me nuts. I see press releases, etc. etc. however no actual links to the "HP Update" application. Could someone at HP please place an easy to find link on the download page for this very critical tool? It would make all of our jobs easier, at least those of us who repair computers for a living...

I received notification, while on a other site that I had some HP updates. I clicked on it and there were 3 updates. I tried to down them over and over, but it always came back that the download failed.

I too cannot download any of the HP updates. They all fail when the attempt is made. I called HP and unless I pay a technical charge for the help, they would not help me. Why? I feel this is part of my PC's need to keep current since I have a HP computer and monitor. Can you help me figure out what to do so I can get my "critical" downloads without having to dish out anywhere from $69.00 to $100.00's?

I too have had problems with HP Update for years and I just followed the suggestion on http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=117981 by Tian Shek. quote: First, I set Windows Explorer to default browser. After that, I reinstalled the HP software again. The HP Update seems to work fine after that. You can try it out. I re-installed HP Software Update via downloading sp36292.exe http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?swItem=ob-51946-1⟨=en&cc;=us&idx;=3&mode;=4& And set IE6 to my default web browser. Then re-ran HP Update and it started working.
