New version of deSEDG

Thu, 30 Aug 2007 divx osx samsung sedg comments

I finally borrowed a PPC mac, so I could recompile deSEDG to allow you to drop multiple files to be converted at once.

So, if you have OSX and unluckily bought a Samsung camera that produces SEDG files (which are really DivX files), you can either hexedit the SEDG chars to DIVX, or download my app.

I've previously corresponded with you Jesse to tell you that this utility was a total gift from Heaven for our family, thank you so much. One minor point - the date and time of the files in the Finder are changed to be the time that the utility is run, and the date and time that the video was made is lost. It would be great if the next version of this utility could preserve the actual recording time. By the way, Samsung level 3 technical support, as of today, still did not know that your utility existed. I tipped them off and they were very grateful. I had called them about an unrelated issue (Unsupported Format error on new SD cards, which require a firmware update on the Samsung cameras)

Thank you! You saved Christmas! My son was really eager to use his new camera and then we find that it doesn't work without Samsung software and that Samsung software doesn't support the Mac. Very discouraging. But after a looong oddessey thru the web, finally found your page, your crystal clear explanation of the problem, and your terrific little piece of code.
