A new year marks the beginning of a new period of time. For me, it marks the beginning of a new period of my life. On Dec 31st, I lived in Lexington, Ky, working for an awesome web development company. It was one of the hardest decisions I've had to make in my life, but I no longer work with those wonderful guys. As of Jan 1, I live in the Bay Area (right now crashing with Chris and Termie in San Francisco) and work for a startup called Flock.
I'm happy that my partner in crime (on userscripts, bookburro and a few unreleased projects) has taken over as the lead developer at Voltaic.
It was hard to leave such a talented group. The dynamics, the talent, and the clients made every day of work a pleasure. I will sorely miss them all.
The web is growing every day. Sites are pushing the boundaries and creating new ways for people to communicate and collaborate. Al Gore's dreams are starting to come true [1]. Working on a browser I'll get to help improve the world of communication and computation.
Firefox is a great app for browsing the web. It's design was to be minimalistic and flexible through extensions. Flock builds upon Firefox's success by redefining the use cases to more than browsing. The use case of sharing: pictures, favorites, opinions, and that is just the beginning. I'm excited to be here working with another great group of people.
[1] a joke - he didn't claim to invent it, just help by passing legislation.
