They’ve done it!
Some enterprising hackers have managed to get homebrew software working on the American PSP (1.50). As a general rule I don’t purchase devices that lock me out. As a developer purchasing locked hardware cuts me out of the equation (even if I don’t have time to modify my Tivo, I like to know I could if I needed to.)
