It saves them in your firefox profile directory. Under a folder called "taboo"

Are they portable between operating systems?
I use Windows XP Pro (32-bit), Windows XP Pro x64, and Apple OS X (Leopard), and I would like to synchronize my saved tabs between computers.
The best way to do this, of course, would be with some server-based synchronization system, much like what Zotero 1.5 is doing. However, without a server-based system, one can use software like Unison to synchronize directly between systems. My question is whether or not this would work across platforms.
Thanks.

"Are they portable between operating systems?"
I know that the Firefox profile folder is portable between OSs because you just copy and paste the entire folder from Windows to Linux and it works like you'd expect.
So if the Taboo folder is in this Firefox profile folder then yes it should work with a program that is made to synchronize folders across OSs.
... I just searched the Google for "firefox sync profile Linux" and found a good LifeHacker article that could probably help you do what you want ... http://lifehacker.com/software/hack-attack/sync-your-firefox-extensions-and-profiles-across-computers-272113.php

The taboo's are store in a "sqlite" file. So I'm not sure how the syncing will work.

I tried copying the taboo.sqlite database between two Linux machines, which worked flawless. I guess it will work for most platform, only those with a different endianess could be a problem.
